Darts champion Luke Littler to face public in Netflix special
Darts prodigy Luke Littler will challenge everyday players for a massive cash prize in a new live Netflix broadcast this autumn.
The streaming platform announced «Beat Luke Littler» will air on October 30. The unique event offers amateur competitors the chance to face the reigning world number one with a £501,000 jackpot on the line. The massive prize fund serves as a direct nod to the standard 501-point format used in professional darts where competitors race to reach exactly zero.
In a promotional video released alongside the announcement Littler reads social media posts from overconfident fans who claim they possess the skills to defeat him on the oche.
«Reckon you could beat me in a game of darts? Let’s go,» the 19-year-old says in the short clip.
Producers are currently casting 20 challengers from the general public. Hopefuls must complete a detailed application outlining their playing experience and explaining exactly why they believe they can defeat the current world champion. The exhaustive selection process includes open regional qualifiers scheduled for September in London and Manchester. Anyone aged 12 and older can apply to participate though minors require direct supervision from a parent or guardian to attend the open auditions.
Breaking records in Blackpool
The television announcement arrives just days after Littler delivered a historic performance in Blackpool to retain his Betfred World Matchplay title. He dismantled Gerwyn Price in a dominant 18-9 victory on Sunday while setting multiple new scoring benchmarks on the grand stage.
During the final match Littler recorded a tournament-record average of 111.53. This remarkable consistency lifted his overall competition average to 111.04 entirely shattering Phil Taylor’s previous highest mark of 106.31. He also hit 12 180s in the final to reach 66 for the week breaking his own established competition record for maximums.
Chasing an unprecedented clean sweep
This latest television venture capitalises on Littler’s meteoric rise within the sport over the past two years. He initially shot to mainstream prominence as a 16-year-old during an unexpected and thrilling run to the Professional Darts Corporation World Championship final in January 2024. He followed that breakthrough by quickly securing both the Premier League and Grand Slam of Darts trophies.
The teenager cemented his sheer dominance by becoming the youngest world number one in history at the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship aged just 17. Following his weekend triumph in Blackpool Littler remains firmly on course to secure a clean sweep of major trophies this year having already collected the World Championship, UK Open, Premier League and the Masters titles.
