Microsoft increases Xbox console prices across UK and Europe
Microsoft has increased prices for its Xbox Series consoles in the United Kingdom, the European Union and several other international markets. Updated store pages confirm the higher prices took effect on Aug. 1, following an announcement from the company in June that hardware costs would rise globally.
Price changes vary depending on the region and the specific model. In the United States, console prices increased by $100 to $150. Customers in the European Union face increases between €150 and €200, while prices in the UK rose by £130 to £170 across the product line. The price adjustments affect both digital and disc-based models across retail stores and Microsoft’s official online shop.
Under the new pricing structure, the 512GB Xbox Series S costs £429.99 in the UK and €499.99 in Europe. The 1TB version of the Series S now sells for £519.99 in the UK and €599.99 in Europe. The new entry-level prices match the original launch price of flagship consoles from 2020.
For the higher-tier hardware, the digital-only Xbox Series X is priced at £619.99 in the UK and €749.99 in the EU. The standard Xbox Series X with a disc drive costs £669.99 in the UK and €799.99 in Europe.
Higher memory expenses
Microsoft attributed the price increases to rising component costs across the consumer electronics industry. According to company statements, the price of storage and memory parts has increased by more than two and a half times since the current console generation began. Microsoft executives also stated that they expect those manufacturing expenses to double again by the autumn of 2027.
The price changes follow similar moves by other major hardware manufacturers in the video game sector. Competitors including Sony and Nintendo have also raised retail prices for their respective consoles in recent months, citing similar supply chain pressures and rising production expenses.
