Redmi has placed demonstration units of its upcoming K100 Pro series in Chinese retail stores ahead of the smartphones’ official unveiling next week, giving customers an early look at the new flagship range.
The appearance of the devices was confirmed by Redmi product manager Hu Xinxin, while photographs from the shops have revealed a previously unseen light-blue finish. The retail displays also offer a closer look at the phones’ design before their formal launch.
The range is expected to include the Redmi K100 Pro Max as its top model. Xiaomi has already highlighted several of the series’ headline specifications, including a 200-megapixel main camera, a high-refresh-rate OLED screen and a large-capacity battery.
A 9,070mAh battery takes centre stage
The K100 Pro Max is expected to feature a 6.9-inch flat OLED display with an unusually high 185Hz refresh rate. The panel will be paired with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile platform and a separate D2 graphics-focused AI chip.
Battery capacity is another major selling point. The phone is listed with a 9,070mAh battery, supporting 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
The handset can also share its power with other devices. Reverse wired charging is rated at up to 27W, while reverse wireless charging can reach 22.5W, allowing the phone to function as a portable power source when needed.
The rear camera system is built around a 200-megapixel main sensor. On the Pro Max, it is expected to be joined by two 50-megapixel cameras, including a periscope telephoto unit with 5x optical zoom and an ultrawide camera. Sample images from the upcoming flagship have already been published ahead of its launch.
Premium touches extend beyond the specifications
Redmi is also giving the phone several design features aimed at setting it apart from conventional flagship models.
The device will use a metal frame and feature a light ring on the rear panel. The lighting system can synchronise with music and produce effects in time with playback.
Audio is another area where Redmi is taking an ambitious approach. The K100 Pro Max is expected to use a Bose 2.1 speaker system combining two full-range speakers with a dedicated low-frequency unit.
