Kazakh female weightlifter smashes three world records in Uzbekistan
Kazakhstan’s Kseniya Prozorova set three world records on her way to two gold medals at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The 61kg lifter also broke three Asian records in a dominant performance.
Prozorova lifted 94 kg in the snatch, which set a world and Asian record in her category. She then added 110 kg in the clean and jerk, finishing with a combined total of 204 kg.
Those results gave the Kazakh athlete two gold medals and three world records across the competition’s record categories. She also set three Asian records, according to the Kazakhstan Weightlifting Federation.
Prozorova is coached by Azamat Nurullayev and Emir Abatov. Her performance added another standout result for Kazakhstan at the championships in the Uzbek capital.
Kazakh and Uzbek weightlifters shine at Asian Championships
Prozorova was not the only Kazakh record-breaker at the event. Snezhana Kashkarova also collected five gold medals and set six records, including three Asian and three world marks, according to Qazinform.
Uzbekistan’s women had a successful day at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships, winning three golds, six silvers, and one bronze medal, according to the Uzbekistan Olympic Committee. Marjona Abdumutalova, Ziyoda Khudoykulova, and Munisa Boltayeva won nine medals in both individual lifts and overall totals.
Abdumutalova won the youth snatch title in the 57kg category, as well as silver medals in the clean and jerk and overall categories. Khudoykulova won snatch gold at 61kg and silver in both clean and jerk and overall, while junior competitor Boltayeva won the 61kg clean and jerk, finished second overall, and took bronze in the snatch.
