FlyArystan boss Richard Ledger earned over $550,000 in 2025

Richard Ledger, the former president of Kazakh airline FlyArystan, received a total remuneration of 258mn tenge ($554,406) in 2025, Kursiv Kazakhstan reports.
The carrier, a wholly owned subsidiary of Air Astana, recently disclosed the compensation package for its sole board member. The annual figure represents a 12% increase compared with the previous year.
On average, the British aviation executive earned approximately 21.5mn tenge ($46,200) per month. This amount includes his base salary alongside various premiums and bonuses.
Ledger took the helm at FlyArystan in April 2024, building on a two-decade career within the broader Air Astana corporate structure.
His tenure as president concluded in February 2026 following a corporate promotion. Ledger stepped into a new role as vice president for partnerships and alliances at the parent company and Johan Eidhagen subsequently succeeded him as FlyArystan president.
FlyArystan revenue and routes
FlyArystan’s financial scale also expanded during Ledger’s tenure. According to Air Astana’s audited 2025 financial statements, the low-cost carrier generated $390.9mn in total revenue and other income during the year, including $332.5mn from passenger services. The airline recorded an operating profit of $16.2mn, although it posted a loss of $8.8mn after finance costs and other items.
FlyArystan has also expanded its international network across Central Asia and currently serves Uzbekistan with flights to Tashkent, Samarkand and Urgench. The carrier began flying between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in July 2023, when it launched its first Astana-Tashkent service. The route quickly became one of FlyArystan’s most popular international services.
