Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has arrived in Almaty ahead of his first major concert in Kazakhstan, with social media filling with footage of his arrival, a new mural and preparations for Friday night’s show.
The rapper landed in Almaty overnight, according to local media and footage circulating online. He was reportedly accompanied by his wife Bianca Censori and members of his team. At the airport, Ye was greeted with Kazakh national dances, performers in traditional clothing and local food. Videos shared online show the rapper filming parts of the welcome on his phone.

The reception quickly became one of the most discussed parts of his arrival. Some social media users praised the welcome as a display of Kazakh hospitality while others questioned whether such a formal reception was appropriate for a musician.
Fans track final preparations across Almaty
The build-up has extended beyond the stadium. A large mural depicting Ye has appeared in Almaty, with the rapper’s portrait painted across a yellow wall alongside Russian-language references to his August 14 performance.
The mural was highlighted by YZYupdates on X on the morning of the concert, with the post receiving thousands of views and hundreds of likes and reposts within hours.

Another post showed what appeared to be a late-night soundcheck at the concert venue. A video shared by the account @xcyxxcyx, citing Donda Archive, showed the stadium complex illuminated at night while the caption described it as a soundcheck for Ye’s Almaty performance.
The footage has not established which songs, if any, were being rehearsed, but it has added to speculation among fans about what will be included in the final set.

The concert is scheduled for 9 p.m. Friday at Almaty’s Central Stadium and is part of Ye’s 2026 tour supporting his album Bully. It will be his first major concert in Kazakhstan.
The production is expected to retain the large-scale format used elsewhere on the tour. Organisers have said more than 100 tonnes of technical equipment have been brought to Almaty and that the show will use a 360-degree stage rather than a reduced version designed specifically for the stadium.
Ticket demand has already been strong. Organisers said about half of the available tickets sold during the first day of presales, with prices initially ranging from 120,000 to 350,000 tenge.
The concert is also expected to draw visitors from outside Kazakhstan. Organisers previously estimated that foreign spectators could account for at least 20% of the audience, with visitors expected from China, other Central Asian countries and elsewhere.
Almaty braces for concert-day disruption
The show will affect traffic across central Almaty. Road restrictions began at 4 p.m. Friday around Abai Avenue, Baitursynov Street and Satpayev Street, while public transport services have been adjusted to handle the expected crowds.
City authorities have also arranged additional buses and extended metro operations. KazTAG reported that 32 public transport routes would temporarily change their routes because of the concert.
For Ye’s fans, however, much of the anticipation has already shifted from logistics to the performance itself. With the artist now in the city, the mural, airport reception and apparent soundcheck have given supporters their first real glimpses of the concert weekend before the lights come on at Central Stadium.
