Samsung is reportedly preparing to launch its upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra in two different sizes while introducing a significant camera redesign that has already divided tech enthusiasts.
Tech leakers Ice Universe and Sonny Dickson claimed that the South Korean technology giant is rethinking its premium smartphone strategy following robust demand for the current generation. Dickson claims the flagship Ultra model will be available in dual-size variants for the first time in the product line’s history.

This smaller option, which leaks suggest will feature a 6.47-inch display, aims to attract consumers who want top-tier specifications without the traditional bulky form factor.
Industry observers speculate that Samsung might brand this secondary device as a Pro model or simply position it as a compact Ultra alternative, capitalising on the prestige associated with the moniker. Offering a fully specced-out device in a smaller chassis could provide the missing link needed to push premium device sales to new heights.
Controversial camera overhaul
Alongside the newly rumoured size options, renders suggest Samsung will abandon its signature vertical camera arrangement on the Ultra model. The forthcoming design introduces a horizontal bar configuration.

Under this new layout, the main and wide-angle lenses remain vertically stacked, but the 5x telephoto lens now sits inside a pill-shaped island alongside the flash. Notably, the 3x telephoto unit that sat at the bottom of the second camera row on previous iterations has been completely removed.
Early social media reactions to the leaked renders have been overwhelmingly cold. Critics argue the horizontal layout is visually unappealing and accuse Samsung of abandoning its established design identity to mimic recent Apple hardware.
However, standard Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus models will reportedly retain the familiar vertical camera aesthetic. This confirms suspicions that the manufacturer reserves the controversial structural revamp exclusively for its most expensive devices.
