Some Indians get 30 days visa-free in Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan has introduced conditional visa-free entry for Indian citizens holding qualifying multiple-entry business or tourist visas. Eligible travellers may stay for up to 30 days.
The measure took effect on 1 September under Presidential Decree PF-180, signed on 29 August, according to the Ministry of Justice’s press release. Travellers must also present a flight ticket to India or a third country.
The decree provides the details behind the 30-day visa-free regime announced following talks between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The leaders also said 14 flights a week were operating between the countries.
Who qualifies for the visa-free entry to Uzbekistan
The foreign visa must have been issued by Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, the US, the UK or a Schengen member state. It must be valid and allow multiple entries when the traveller enters Uzbekistan.
The exemption covers business and tourist visas only. It is not blanket visa-free access for all Indian passport holders; travellers who do not meet the conditions are still subject to Uzbekistan’s standard visa rules.
