FIA court: Pierre Gasly loses Monaco Grand Prix podium
Pierre Gasly’s penalties for speeding in the pit lane during the Monaco Grand Prix have been reinstated following a hearing before the FIA International Court of Appeal.
The FIA announced the decision on Thursday after the court heard the case in Paris on August 25. The ruling restores the sanctions imposed on the Alpine driver during the race.
Gasly received two five-second time penalties for different speeding offences in the pit lane, resulting in a total 10-second penalty. The FIA’s updated classification lists the French driver seventh, with the revised penalties included in the official results.
The case reached the International Court of Appeal after someone previously challenged the sanctions. The court’s decision means the original penalties will remain in force.
Revised Monaco Grand Prix classification
The reinstatement leaves Gasly seventh in the final classification, behind Arvid Lindblad and ahead of Alexander Albon.
Kimi Antonelli was classified as the race winner ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Isack Hadjar. Oscar Piastri finished fourth, followed by Liam Lawson, Lindblad and Gasly.
The FIA also confirmed several other penalties in the final classification. George Russell received a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane, while Franco Colapinto was handed a 10-second sanction for causing a collision.
Sergio Perez was also given a five-second penalty for a track limits infringement, and Fernando Alonso received a 10-second penalty for a false start.
