Apple CEO John Ternus showed off the iPhone Duo at the Emmys ahead of its launch in Apple stores, a moment that was caught by Deadline.
Footage posted to social media by Deadline showed Ternus bringing Apple’s first folding device, the iPhone Duo, hardware to television’s biggest awards night on 14 September, two weeks after succeeding Tim Cook.
Ternus arrived at the Emmys, where he pulled the iPhone Duo from his tuxedo jacket pocket.

The appearance gave the device another public showing between its unveiling and October release. It also brought Apple’s new CEO in front of a different audience than the developers and technology enthusiasts who attend its product presentations.
When can buyers get the iPhone Duo?
Apple confirmed that pre-orders begin on 16 October, with availability from 23 October in the first launch markets. The US starting price is $1,999.
At the Emmy ceremony, Ternus was demonstrating an unreleased product, rather than celebrating its arrival in shops.

Apple had another reason to enjoy the evening. Its streaming service collected nine awards during the main ceremony, including six for Widow’s Bay, according to 9to5Mac’s awards tally.
The red-carpet demonstration offered a glimpse of the iPhone Duo outside Apple Park. Questions about everyday battery life, camera performance and durability will require considerably longer than a tux-pocket cameo to answer.
