Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum described Stray Kids as being «like BTS, but younger» as she announced their planned visit to the National Palace. The K-pop group is arriving in the country for two stadium shows on September 25 and 26.

The band was scheduled to meet Sheinbaum and South Korean president Lee Jae-myung during his official visit to Mexico, Billboard reported.

«The group coming is called Stray Kids,» the president said during her press conference on Thursday morning. «They’re kind of like BTS, but younger. I don’t know if they’re boys and girls — they’re young, younger than the members of BTS.»

At her September 24 press briefing, Sheinbaum said Korean music, films and television had brought young people in both countries closer together.

Asked whether Stray Kids would also perform in Mexico City’s Zócalo square, she left the possibility open but stopped short of confirming a free concert.

What Stray Kids shows are confirmed in Mexico?

The confirmed shows are September 25 and 26 at Estadio GNP Seguros, under the STRAYCITY banner. NEXZ, Andrés Obregón and RENEE are also on the bill.

Ticketmaster lists a 6.30pm event start on both days, according to Publimetro’s concert guide. That is the advertised start of the event, rather than a confirmed stage time for Stray Kids.

Sheinbaum earlier made available ten free tickets for children from low-income families, distributed through Mexico’s DIF family welfare system. This was a targeted allocation, with no general ticket giveaway announced.

For those attending the stadium shows, one detail is worth checking before leaving: umbrellas are prohibited, Publimetro notes.
