Apple plans two-day showcase for new MacBook Pro and iPad mini

Apple is preparing to unveil three revamped Mac computers and an upgraded iPad mini on 27 October, bypassing its traditional livestreamed presentation in favour of an exclusive hands-on gathering in Los Angeles.
The private showcase, scheduled for 27 and 28 October, will provide selected content creators and journalists direct access to the hardware, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The event is expected to conclude Apple’s major product launches for 2026.
Apple’s marketing team is preparing events for influencers in LA surrounding this launch, on the evening of Oct. 27 and across the day of Oct. 28.

The headline transition centres on the flagship 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro computers. Both premium models are slated to adopt OLED touchscreens for the first time, marking a major departure from Apple’s long-standing avoidance of touch-enabled laptop displays.
The overhauled machines will reportedly incorporate a lighter chassis, a Dynamic Island display cut-out and next-generation M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. Apple is also testing built-in cellular connectivity for the notebooks using its custom C1X or C2 modems.
Silicon shifts across consumer Macs
Complementing the professional notebooks, Apple plans to introduce its M6 generation processor across two baseline machines. An updated entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro will adopt the new M6 architecture, while the 24-inch iMac will also gain the processor alongside additional colour options.
A high-end Mac Studio configuration equipped with 512GB of memory remains slated for late October, though its presence at the Los Angeles event remains unconfirmed.
The compact tablet line will see an extensive technical overhaul. The eighth-generation iPad mini is projected to feature an OLED display, the A20 Pro chip, a landscape-oriented front camera, re-engineered speakers and improved water resistance.
The premium hardware package is expected to trigger a significant price increase, with retail pricing anticipated near $799 compared with the existing $599 starting figure.
The Los Angeles showcase follows an anticipated smart home introduction on 13 October in New York, where Apple is expected to reveal a HomeView control hub, the second-generation HomePod mini and a refreshed Apple TV 4K.
