Marvel Studios has released new footage from Avengers: Doomsday, bringing together three characters who have held the Captain America title and offering another glimpse of the battle against Doctor Doom.
The promotional clip features Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson and Wyatt Russell as John Walker, alongside Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. The footage was released ahead of the film’s theatrical debut on 18 December 2026.
One scene shows Scott Lang addressing Rogers as Captain America before correcting himself and turning towards Wilson, who currently holds the title. Walker, who briefly served as Captain America before becoming US Agent, also joins the exchange.
The interaction acknowledges the complicated history of the superhero identity following the events of Avengers: Endgame, when Rogers passed his shield to Wilson.
The footage also shows Rogers wielding Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. In another exchange, Thor admits that seeing his former teammate use the weapon still bothers him.
Doctor Doom threatens the Marvel multiverse
Beyond the Captain America reunion, the promotional footage features Thor warning the assembled heroes about Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.
The villain is expected to force characters from several Marvel universes into an alliance, bringing together the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men and New Avengers.
Downey returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a different role after portraying Tony Stark, whose story ended in Avengers: Endgame.
The film also features Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova and Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier.
Earlier trailers showed Doom confronting Richards and fighting Thor, while footage unveiled at Disney’s D23 event featured an army of Sentinels, the robots traditionally associated with the X-Men.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars, scheduled for December 2027.
Disney has confirmed that Avengers: Doomsday will arrive in UK and US cinemas on 18 December 2026.
