K-pop group Seventeen has entered a new phase of its military hiatus as members Seungkwan and Dino began their mandatory service in the South Korean Army on Monday, 26 October.
The two singers reported to an Army training centre together and will join a military band after completing basic training, according to their agency, Pledis Entertainment.
Their enlistment makes them the final two members of the 13-member group required to begin military service, with six others currently fulfilling their obligations.
Pledis previously announced their enlistment date in August, asking fans not to gather at the training centre to avoid disrupting other recruits and their families.
The company confirmed that no public farewell ceremony would take place. It also said the members would remain in contact with fans, known as Carats, through previously recorded content released during their absence.
Which Seventeen members are still serving?
Seungkwan and Dino join six bandmates already completing their military duties.
Woozi, Hoshi and DK are serving in the Army, while Wonwoo, Vernon and Mingyu are fulfilling alternative service as social service agents.
Jeonghan, the first member to enlist in September 2024, completed his service in June 2026 and has since resumed entertainment activities.
Group leader S.Coups was exempted from military duty following a serious knee ligament injury sustained in 2023. Joshua, Jun and The8 are not subject to South Korea’s mandatory enlistment requirements because they hold foreign citizenship.
The latest enlistments mean every Seventeen member required to serve has either completed or begun military duty.
What happens to SEVENTEEN during the hiatus?
Although full-group promotions remain on hold, Seventeen’s activities are not expected to stop entirely.
Members who have completed their service or are exempt from enlistment can continue pursuing solo projects, collaborations and unit releases.
Jeonghan and Joshua have already begun promoting together, releasing their first unit mini-album, DREAMSCAPE, on 19 October.
The group also renewed its contracts with Pledis Entertainment earlier this year, signalling plans to continue working together beyond the enlistment period.
However, the agency has not announced when all 13 members will reunite for a full-group comeback.
