The Indian film star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan celebrated her 53rd birthday with messages from Kajol, Juhi Chawla, and Manish Malhotra.
Kajol shared a photograph of Aishwarya posing near the Eiffel Tower on Instagram Stories. Juhi praised her grace and poise in a birthday message on X, while Malhotra sent an affectionate greeting.

Her birthday also prompted a look back at the outfits that made her a Cannes fixture. Tatler’s retrospective traced 12 red-carpet looks, beginning with her 2002 debut for Devdas, alongside Shah Rukh Khan and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
She wore a yellow Neeta Lulla saree and elaborate gold jewellery, with a look intended to evoke her character, Paro.
Her wardrobe grew more adventurous over the years. A sculptural Gaurav Gupta gown inspired by The Birth of Venus followed in 2022, followed by a silver hooded Sophie Couture dress in 2023.

From Miss World to Nandini
Aishwarya’s international breakthrough came before her first film. She won Miss World in 1994, representing India in a field of 87 contestants in South Africa.
Her acting career began with Mani Ratnam’s Tamil political drama Iruvar in 1997. Hindi films including Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Taal, Devdas and Jodhaa Akbar subsequently made her a leading Bollywood star.

She later reunited with Ratnam for the two-part Ponniyin Selvan historical epic, playing Nandini. Her screen career also includes Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.
Aishwarya married Abhishek Bachchan in April 2007. Their daughter, Aaradhya, was born in 2011.
