K-pop boy group A2O SOUL has released a music video teaser for ‘Dancing in the Dark’, offering fans a preview of its upcoming debut EP, ‘SUPERSTAR’, scheduled for 9 November.

The 15-member group unveiled the teaser on 8 November, a day before the release of the full music video and five-track EP at 6 p.m. Korean time.

‘Dancing in the Dark’ is one of two title tracks on the album, alongside ‘SUPERSTAR’, which the group released on 13 October. The earlier single arrived a day after A2O Entertainment officially introduced A2O SOUL and its sister girl group, A2O LITE.

A2O SOUL is produced by Lee Soo-man, the founder of SM Entertainment, who established A2O Entertainment after leaving the company behind acts including EXO, Girls’ Generation and aespa.

The debut EP will feature five songs: ‘SUPERSTAR’, ‘Dancing in the Dark’, ‘While We’re Young’, ‘Very First Love’ and ‘Moonlight Shadow’.

New synthwave sound

According to A2O Entertainment, the album explores a sound it calls ‘new synthwave’, combining retro synthesiser melodies with contemporary pop arrangements.

Lee oversaw the album’s musical direction and recruited producers including Yoo Young-jin, HAAN and GENT!, whose previous credits include collaborations with Justin Bieber, Drake and Doja Cat.

The group’s pre-release single ‘SUPERSTAR’ reached No. 2 on QQ Music’s new-song chart in China and No. 18 on YouTube Korea’s trending music chart.

A2O Entertainment has also released concept photographs and a highlight medley ahead of the EP’s launch. The album will be available on major streaming platforms worldwide, with physical editions offered in two photobook versions and a platform album.
