The global festival of traditional culture and music, Rukh Sanat, officially opened on August 1 in the city of Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, according to the Cabinet of Ministers’ press service.
Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov expressed confidence that the event would become a vital creative platform for strengthening cultural ties between nations.
«I warmly welcome you to Kyrgyzstan — the land where the monumental epic Manas was born, where hundreds of folk epics, dastans and poems continue to be performed. Here, the art of improvisational singing lives on, and melodies once performed on the world’s grandest stages still echo — in the heart of Ala-Too, on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul,» he said.

«Within our blood, our distinct way of life, our culture and history lies the grandeur of the nomadic empire. Language and faith may divide us, but music is a language that needs no translation. If a song, melody or tune touches the soul, brings joy and stays in memory, it becomes truly folk — living on in people’s hearts.»
Representatives from around 40 countries are taking part in Rukh Sanat. The festival includes three key areas: an international competition for traditional music performers, an international academic congress, and a dedicated Market zone — a fair showcasing cultural practices and ideas.

The total prize fund is 3 mln KGS ($34,305), with the grand prize worth 1 mln KGS ($11,435). The remaining funds will be distributed across various categories.
Kursiv also reports that from September 5 to November 20, Bukhara will host the debut edition of the biennale titled «Recipes for Broken Hearts».
