F1 Calendar Chaos Grows as More Races Face Cancellation Threat

The 2026 Formula 1 season is facing growing uncertainty after early cancellations and rising concerns over additional races later in the year.

The Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix have already been called off due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, leaving gaps in the early-season calendar. Organisers confirmed that no replacement races would be scheduled, with support series events also affected.

Attention is now turning to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which could be at risk given its proximity to regional conflict zones. While Baku has not been directly impacted, logistical and safety concerns are increasing.

The FIA has stressed that safety remains the top priority. President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said decisions are being made with the well-being of teams and personnel in mind.

Later races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi are still expected to go ahead for now, but their status remains under review as the situation evolves.

Analysts warn that a worst-case scenario could see multiple Middle Eastern races removed, potentially reducing the championship calendar to around 17 events, similar to the disrupted 2020 season.
