A Brazilian woman has been handed a suspended prison sentence and is scheduled for deportation from South Korea after engaging in a severe stalking campaign against BTS superstar Jungkook.
The Seoul Western District Court delivered its verdict on May 8, 2026. Judge Park Ji-won sentenced the unidentified foreign national to one year in prison, suspended for two years, on charges of trespassing and violating the nation’s Stalking Punishment Act.
The dark side of global superstardom
The distressing legal case unfolds while the 28-year-old singer and his bandmates are currently travelling the globe for their massive «Arirang» world tour. Jungkook, the youngest member and main vocalist of the phenomenally successful South Korean septet, had recently performed at the tour’s major Busan concert.
While BTS command one of the largest and most dedicated fanbases in music history, their staggering fame has frequently exposed the members to severe privacy invasions. The intense parasocial relationships cultivated in the K-pop industry sometimes manifest as obsessive behaviour from extreme individuals, resulting in terrifying real-world encounters for the artists.
An escalating pattern of harassment
Official court documents detail a disturbing timeline of events that began in late 2025. Between December 7 and early January, the defendant made 22 separate visits to the singer’s residence in Seoul’s Yongsan District.
The harassment involved loitering outside the property for extended periods, throwing items over the boundary wall and forcing mail through gaps in the door. The situation escalated dramatically on December 12 when the woman rang the doorbell a staggering 133 times in a single evening. The following day she managed to slip through a side gate that had been opened for a food delivery courier, allowing her to physically trespass onto the property.
Breaching orders and the verdict
Following her initial arrest for trespassing, police released the woman with a strict warning to stay away from the singer. She completely ignored these instructions and immediately resumed visiting the house. Her relentless behaviour prompted authorities to issue an emergency restraining order on December 28, which legally prohibited her from coming within 100 metres of the pop star or his home.
Undeterred, she breached this protective measure on January 4 by returning to the property to leave printed materials and photographs. She was subsequently arrested and held in detention for approximately three months. During the trial the presiding judge noted that the imminent threat of deportation served as a major factor in the lenient sentencing, as the woman will be forcibly removed from South Korea.
A history of security threats
This is unfortunately not an isolated incident for the global music icon. Jungkook has been the target of multiple stalkers in recent years, prompting his management team to regularly upgrade his residential security.
In June last year, a Chinese woman in her 30s was apprehended by Seoul police while attempting to guess the security code and break into the very same property. Chillingly, that intrusion attempt occurred just hours after Jungkook had officially completed his mandatory military service, underscoring the relentless and ongoing security challenges the star faces even during deeply personal milestones.
