Uzbekistan’s automotive sector experienced a notable expansion during the first five months of 2026, with the assembly of passenger cars reaching 190,500 units. According to the latest report from the National Committee for Statistics, this represents an increase of 19,300 vehicles compared to the same period last year.
The Chevrolet Cobalt firmly maintains its position as the country’s most heavily manufactured vehicle. By the beginning of June this year, domestic factories had turned out more than 69,300 Cobalts, a substantial jump from the 58,900 units recorded during the corresponding timeframe in 2025.
However, this upward trend was not reflected across all mainstream models, as assembly lines for several popular vehicles saw a downturn. Output for the Damas minivan dropped from 38,700 to 35,200 units over the year, while production of the Onix sedan dipped slightly from 16,200 to 15,100 units.
In contrast, other segments achieved positive growth. Manufacturing of the Chevrolet Tracker crossover climbed from 18,000 to 18,500 units, and the assembly of KIA vehicles expanded from 10,000 to 11,100 cars. The country also witnessed a significant boost in the production of specialised vehicles, which rose from 17,400 to 23,800 units.
This broader acceleration in vehicle assembly has naturally stimulated the domestic component sector. Local manufacturing plants produced over 103,200 car engines between January and May 2026, marking a solid increase from the 94,200 units manufactured during the same period twelve months earlier.
