OnePlus has confirmed its departure from the U.S. and European markets, halting all future product launches across both major regions.
Parent company Oppo pledged to honour existing warranty agreements and provide continued software updates for current device owners. James Paterson, Oppo’s senior PR manager in Europe, stated that after-sale care will remain completely intact. While Oppo will continue selling its own electronics in Europe, the corporation will have no physical presence in the U.S. moving forward.
To maintain software support, existing OnePlus smartphones will migrate from OxygenOS to Oppo’s ColorOS in the coming months. Oppo Europe CEO Elvis Zhou noted that users can revert to OxygenOS if they choose, though doing so will forfeit future security patches and system updates.
Broader corporate restructuring and future releases
The regional retreat may soon expand further. Bloomberg recently reported that OnePlus plans to exit India alongside all other international markets by next year to consolidate its operations exclusively within China. When pressed on the matter, Oppo representative Nicole Okpokiri declined to comment on global operations, confirming only that the OnePlus product roadmap in China remains unchanged.
Corporate restructuring extends beyond the OnePlus brand. Okpokiri announced that Realme, another Oppo subsidiary, will stop releasing new devices in China to focus entirely on overseas territories.
Regarding the workforce reduction caused by the OnePlus contraction, Zhou declined to specify how many employees lost their jobs. He stated only that the dismissals complied with relevant labour regulations and some staff transitioned into new roles at Oppo.
Despite the international withdrawal, OnePlus continues developing its next flagship handset. The company is currently preparing the OnePlus 16, though its availability outside China remains highly doubtful. Meanwhile, Oppo is preparing to launch its Find X10 series and is rumoured to be developing a wide foldable smartphone to compete with upcoming Samsung and Apple designs this year.
