A road traffic collision in South Carolina has claimed the life of Dylan Carter at the age of 24. While millions of television viewers knew him as a standout contestant on the hit U.S. reality programme The Voice, his hometown community in Moncks Corner is mourning the loss of a dedicated philanthropist and beloved local businessman.
The talented vocalist shot to national prominence during season 24 of the high-profile singing competition. Delivering a moving rendition of Whitney Houston’s I Look to You he managed to secure a four-chair turn from celebrity coaches Gwen Stefani, John Legend, Niall Horan and Reba McEntire.
Carter dedicated the audition to his mother who had passed away the previous year. He ultimately joined forces with country music legend McEntire and progressed through the competition before exiting the show in its twelfth episode.
Away from the television cameras Dylan Carter was heavily invested in his local area. He worked as an estate agent and managed his own business known as Sunny Days RV & Campground. Furthermore he channelled his vocal talents into charitable endeavours by co-founding The Local Voice. This non-profit organisation supported women undergoing treatment for breast cancer and relied heavily on his frequent live performances at community fundraising galas.
Local leaders and charitable colleagues have since flooded social media with heartfelt tributes following the Saturday night crash. Thomas Hamilton Jr the mayor of Moncks Corner highlighted Carter’s immense charm and described him as a cherished friend rather than just a civic entertainer.
Meanwhile his co-workers at The Local Voice issued a public statement expressing their absolute heartbreak. They promised to continue his vital charitable mission and noted that they find immense comfort in the belief that the young singer has now been reunited with his late mother.
