Model and actress Cara Delevingne has opened up about a health crisis that culminated in a seizure at the Burning Man festival, revealing that withdrawal from the drug GHB played a major role in the incident.
Speaking candidly about her past struggles with substance abuse, Delevingne said she experienced severe withdrawal symptoms after stopping the use of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), a depressant drug that can be highly addictive when used regularly. She described the period as one of the most difficult moments in her recovery journey.
The British star’s condition drew widespread attention in 2022 after photographs showed her appearing distressed and disoriented at an airport shortly after attending Burning Man in Nevada. The images sparked concern among fans and led to speculation about her wellbeing.
Delevingne has since sought treatment and spoken publicly about her recovery, emphasizing the importance of addressing addiction and mental health challenges. She said discussing her experience openly is intended to help reduce stigma and encourage others to seek support.
Medical experts warn that GHB withdrawal can be particularly dangerous, with symptoms including anxiety, insomnia, hallucinations and seizures in severe cases.
The actress and model has previously credited rehabilitation, therapy and support from friends and family with helping her rebuild her health and career following her recovery.
