Xiaomi previewed its upcoming flagship Redmi K100 Pro Max at the ChinaJoy gaming exhibition in Shanghai.
While the comprehensive product launch is scheduled for midnight Moscow time on August 12, the Chinese technology firm used the event to showcase the smartphone’s exterior design before its retail debut. The standard K100 Pro will also appear alongside the premium model during the formal presentation.
The device maintains a familiar aesthetic with minimal visual departures from the previous K90 Pro Max. It retains a prominent metal plateau camera module on the rear panel and incorporates a Bose-tuned audio system. Company representatives specifically highlighted the handset’s ultra-thin bezels surrounding a massive 6.9-inch display.
One standout visual feature is the new cherry-coloured finish officially named Cabernet Sauvignon Red. Industry watchers note that Apple is reportedly preparing a similar shade for its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models. This timing suggests Xiaomi may have drawn inspiration from its American competitor to capture early market attention.
Heavyweight hardware upgrades
Although the ChinaJoy appearance focused strictly on exterior aesthetics rather than internal hardware, recent supply chain leaks provide a clear picture of the upcoming flagship. The device will reportedly run on Qualcomm’s unannounced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor paired with 12GB of RAM to handle intensive gaming applications.
The K100 Pro Max is expected to feature a TCL-manufactured flat OLED screen boasting an exceptionally high 185Hz refresh rate and an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor. Photography capabilities will see a major overhaul with a triple camera cluster housed within the rear metal plateau. This setup reportedly features a 200-megapixel primary camera utilising a 1/1.28-inch sensor alongside dual 50-megapixel telephoto and periscope lenses.
To support the high-performance gaming focus suggested by its ChinaJoy promotional debut, the handset is rumoured to pack a massive 9,000 mAh battery. Leaked specifications indicate this power cell will support 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging while an IP68 rating ensures robust dust and water resistance.
