Apple wants to run your entire home with eight new smart devices

Apple‘s new Home Collection brings smart door locks, security cameras and thermostats into one system, allowing users to manage their homes directly from an iPhone without installing separate apps.
Developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, the collection includes eight devices, with US prices ranging from $39.95 for a temperature sensor to $399.95 for an outdoor security camera with floodlights.
The accessories will become available from December 2026, with some arriving in early 2027. They work with Apple’s new HomeView display as well as compatible HomePod and Apple TV devices.
What devices are included in Apple Home Collection?

LG smart deadbolt lock — $349.95
The smart lock uses Ultra Wideband technology to detect when someone approaches and automatically unlock the door using a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch.
Users can also enter a PIN, tap their device or use a physical backup key. The lock detects when the door is left open or tampered with and can grant temporary access to guests.

It includes a spotlight and sends notifications to connected Apple devices. Users can speak to visitors and unlock compatible smart locks remotely.
LG indoor cam — $199.95

The indoor camera automatically changes position depending on whether household members are home.
It tilts down into a privacy position when someone returns and resumes monitoring when everyone leaves. Users can also adjust its position manually through the Home app.

LG and Schneider Electric smart thermostats — $199.95 each

Both thermostats use Apple’s Adaptive Temperature feature to adjust heating and cooling according to household routines.
Separate temperature and humidity sensors cost $39.95 each, allowing users to monitor conditions across multiple rooms.
In supported parts of the US, Clean Energy Guidance can also schedule heating and cooling during periods when electricity is cheaper or cleaner.

All Apple Home Collection devices support one-tap pairing with an iPhone running the latest iOS software.
Users can bring their iPhone close to an accessory, follow the setup instructions and add it to the Apple Home app.
Once connected, the accessories can be controlled through Siri or automated using household routines.
For example, a «Leaving Home» automation could lock the door, activate security cameras and adjust the thermostat. The reverse could happen when someone returns.
Apple says all devices use end-to-end encryption to protect personal information.
Prices, compatibility and what to check before buying
The Apple Home Collection is initially launching in the US, Canada and UK, although availability varies by product. The smart lock and thermostats are initially limited to the US and Canada.
Before purchasing, buyers should consider:
- Home hub: Some advanced features require a compatible HomeView, HomePod or Apple TV. Buying HomeView itself is not compulsory.
- Camera subscriptions: Ten days of recorded video history requires an eligible iCloud+ plan.
- Apple Intelligence: AI-generated video summaries and natural-language footage searches require a compatible iPhone or iPad and an eligible iCloud+ subscription.
- Installation: Buyers should check whether smart locks fit their doors and thermostats support their existing heating and cooling systems.
- Connectivity: The accessories support Thread, while compatible locks and thermostats also support Matter.
For existing Apple Home users, the collection offers additional security and climate-control options without requiring a completely new smart home system. However, buyers should check regional support and compatibility before importing the accessories.
