Apple‘s fourth-generation Apple TV 4K starts at $299, introducing hands-free Siri AI, a remote that can be tracked through Find My and support for four-speaker surround sound.

The streaming device features Apple’s A19 chip, delivering up to 50% faster CPU performance and twice the graphics performance of the previous generation. It also adds Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and 128GB of storage.

Pre-orders opened on October 13, with sales beginning November 13 in the US and 29 other countries and regions.

How to use Apple TV 4K’s new features

Hands-free Siri AI

Apple TV 4K now has three built-in microphones, allowing users to control playback and search for content without picking up the remote.

To activate Siri, users can say «Siri» or «Hey Siri» followed by a request. The microphones use echo cancellation to recognise commands even while a film is playing.

Siri AI can recommend films, answer questions about what is playing and search for content using conversational requests.

Personalised searches, such as finding a show recommended in a message, require a paired Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone or iPad.

Siri AI is available in beta with tvOS 27.2. The household owner must have a compatible iPhone or iPad with Siri AI enabled and set to a supported language.

Find My Siri remote

The redesigned Siri Remote has a built-in speaker and Precision Finding support, making it easier to locate when misplaced.

To find it, users can open the Find My app on a compatible iPhone, select the remote and follow directional guidance or play a sound.

Precision Finding requires an iPhone Duo, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 or later, excluding the iPhone 17e.

The remote retains its familiar buttons and USB-C charging port.

Four-speaker surround sound

Users can connect four HomePod mini 2 or second-generation HomePod speakers to create a surround sound system.

The speakers automatically detect their positions and adjust audio timing and volume.

Front and rear speaker pairs must match, although the two pairs can use different supported HomePod models. The system requires the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K.

Smart home and security controls

Apple TV 4K can act as an Apple Home hub, allowing users to manage compatible lights, locks, cameras and thermostats.

With a compatible video doorbell, notifications appear on the TV, allowing users to see visitors and communicate with them.

Apple Intelligence can also summarise camera activity, although AI-generated descriptions require an Apple Intelligence-compatible device for setup and an eligible iCloud+ subscription.

Apple TV 4K price and what to check before buying

The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K costs $299 in the US, while the new Siri Remote is available separately for $59.

Before purchasing, buyers should consider:

  • Remote compatibility: The new Siri Remote works with all Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K models, so existing owners can upgrade without replacing their streaming device.
  • Siri AI: The assistant also works on second-generation Apple TV 4K models and newer, making a new purchase unnecessary for this feature alone.
  • Language restrictions: Siri AI initially supports English in eight markets, including the US, UK, India and Australia.
  • Audio requirements: Four-speaker surround sound requires compatible HomePods and the latest Apple TV 4K.
  • Connectivity: The new model offers Wi-Fi 7, Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI 2.1.

For existing Apple TV 4K owners, the main reasons to upgrade are hands-free voice control, faster performance and expanded surround sound. Those primarily interested in Siri AI or the improved remote may be able to access these features without buying a new Apple TV.
