The Uzbek government has approved a resolution permitting citizens who undergo gender transition to change their first name, surname, and patronymic.
Former MP Rasul Kusherbayev explained that, under the new rule, names can be adapted accordingly — for example, Dilshod may be changed to Dilshoda without restriction.
To proceed with a name change, individuals must apply through law enforcement authorities and present a medical certificate confirming the gender transition.
