Afghanistan has returned 48 tonnes of substandard cement to Uzbekistan after the shipments failed to meet national quality standards, the Afghanistan Standard and Quality Authority (ASQA) said.

According to the regulator, two consignments were inspected at Hairatan port during routine quality control checks and were deemed unfit for entry into the domestic market. The materials were subsequently sent back to Uzbekistan.
